Help the Museum grow!

Your support can make a difference

Dear Museum fans,
As we approach the end of the year, we want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support of our programs and events. We hope you learned something you didn't already know about Hoboken, and had fun at the same time. While your participation in events like the House Tour, Secret Garden Tour and Great Hoboken Auction, along with your annual membership renewal, provide vital funding for our core activities, the Museum requires greater resources than we are able to raise through membership and events alone.

If you're a member, you should have recently received a letter asking for your support of our annual fund. If you've already made a donation, thank you. By contributing to the annual fund, you and your fellow members ensure that the Museum can continue to offer the outstanding exhibitions and programs that make it the "biggest little museum in New Jersey." If you haven't, just consider the following:

Each contribution has a ripple effect. The more local supporters we have, the more likely we are to earn funding from public and private grant-making organizations. Last year, we were awarded a prestigious grant from the federal Institute for Museum and Library Services for our "Open River" program, which will use the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway as an interpretive tool to explore Hoboken's heritage with educational signs, a cell phone tour and special events. We also earned special project funding from the Center for Puerto Rican Studies and the Hoboken Board of Education.

While these grants help us undertake new projects, the majority of our annual operating budget comes from you, our members and fans. And as the state continues to restrict its funding to cultural organizations, we need your help more than ever to bridge the gap.

Any amount is appreciated. Gifts at the $100 level and above will be recognized with your choice of thank-you gifts; check out our new "Membership and Annual Fund" brochure, available at the Museum. We've made it easy for you to donate here on this page. Or you can call the Museum when we're open, Tuesday - Sunday, and use a credit card. Please consider making a fully tax-deductible gift to the annual fund. And don't forget to ask your employer if it offers matching grants. Your contribution will truly make a difference for the Museum and the thousands of residents and visitors we serve each year. Please join your neighbors in helping the Hoboken Historical Museum celebrate the city's diverse culture and history. We look forward to seeing you at the Museum!

Sincerely,
