The Hoboken Historical Museums collections have well over 50,000 documents,
maps, drawings, books, photos, slides and objects. At present, information on
about a quarter of these items is available through our on-line catalog. While
the museum has been collecting since 1986, formal accessioning and cataloging
began in 2001.We plan to add each year to the number of items available for
on-line reference and research to the extent of our resources. This catalog
also acknowledges the many donors who have enhanced the collections with their
generous donations of Hoboken materials.
The on-line catalog has several ways to search for information from the simplest
(random images or keyword) to more involved search strings. A few minutes spent
trying some of the options would be useful in finding your best strategy. You
can return to the museums main page at any time by just clicking on the
Museum logo at the top.
You can print out many of your searches and images. Please note that on-line images are not high resolution and are for discovery and reference purposes only. In most cases they are watermarked and should not be reproduced without the permission of the Museum. Images of appropriate quality and without watermark are available in various formats, both electronic and print. Please inquire about availability and costs by e-mail collections@hobokenmuseum.org or by phone, 201/656-2260.
Due to limited staff, response to research inquiries by phone or e-mail may be delayed. Research on a project basis can be done by hourly charge. Serious research may also be done in collections by appointment only. Contact:: collections@hobokenmuseum.org or the phone number above.
