Since 1986, the Hoboken Historical Museum has been showcasing the city’s history in imaginative exhibits, engaging educational programs and fun events. Thanks to generous community support, the Museum moved in 2001 to our space in one of the oldest buildings on Hoboken’s waterfront. Today we welcome tens of thousands of visitors annually, including over 800 members, hundreds of school children, and a growing number of tourists. Our operating budget relies mainly on contributions from members and corporate donors, as well as fundraising events and competitive grants. We receive no dedicated public funding—any grants we earn are awarded based on the merits of our applications.

Benefits of Sponsorship

Show your pride in our community by sponsoring one of the Museum’s exhibits, events or educational programs.

  • You’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you helped our talented curators expand and preserve awareness of Hoboken’s heritage and its contributions to American culture for generations to come.
  • You’ll be acknowledged in our member communications, on our website and in our promotional materials.
  • You’ll receive a full year of corporate membership, with invitations to special events, free or reduced admission to the Museum and our events, as well as discounts on gift shop merchandise, among other benefits.

Sponsorship Opportunities

We offer individuals and businesses many different ways to support our exhibits, programs and events:

Main Gallery Historical Exhibitions

The Museum’s curators have mined Hoboken’s history for exhibits on such diverse topics as the city’s musical heritage, the 100 things that happened here first, the city’s sweet side, and its turnaround in the 1970s. Main Gallery exhibits are seen by thousands of visitors and generate media coverage all year long.

Upper Gallery Art Exhibits

Each year we host up to six artists and/or photographers who feature Hoboken in their work. Full-year naming rights for the gallery are available, as well as exclusive sponsorships for an artist’s six-week-long exhibit.

School and Family Programs

The Museum serves every school in Hoboken, from preschools through high school, with programs designed to meet the needs of each class and teacher. Other programs include week-long Summer Camps, our Family Fun days, and the semi-monthly Uptown Storytime sessions for toddlers that run from September – June.

Lectures and Special Projects

Lectures and special projects help bring our exhibits to life, celebrate big anniversaries and archive the stories of longtime residents. Our lecture series put Hoboken on the academic map, bringing in professors, authors and experts. Sponsors help us produce our creatively designed chapbooks in our joint Oral History Project with the Hoboken Library.

Annual Events

Our Baby Parade, Secret Garden Tour, House Tour and more have become essential events on the local social calendar. In addition to advertising, title sponsorships help you reach hundreds of participants in each event.
