WWI Centennial Talk: “Artists at War,” by George Robb

As part of the Museum’s World War I Centennial Lecture Series, on Sunday, Feb. 18, at 4 pm, the Hoboken Museum is pleased to welcome Prof. George Robb, for an illustrated talk about “Artists at War.” The William Paterson University professor will discuss the artists who created the beautiful and motivational posters designed to rally people to volunteer for service and support the war effort.

On display during his talk is a collection of vintage WWI posters on loan from the Jersey City Public Library collection.

Dr. Robb received his PhD in History from Northwestern University. He was a Fulbright Scholar in the United Kingdom. His most recent books are “British Culture and the First World War” (Palgrave-Macmillan, 2nd edition, 2015) and “Ladies of the Ticker: Women and Wall Street from the Gilded Age to the Great Depression” (University of Illinois Press, 2017). He teaches courses on the history of the British Isles, the British Empire, and the history of crime.
