Arriving by Bus

Take the NJ Transit #126 bus from Port Authority (Gate 204) to Hoboken. Get off at 14th & Washington Streets and walk east to Hudson St. and one block south to 1301 Hudson. The fare from NY is $3.50 (pre-purchased ticket required; ticket-dispensing machines are located near the entrance to gate 204). The local bus fare from the PATH station is $1.60 (cash accepted, exact fare required) to ride up Washington Street to 13th Street, at the YMCA building. Walk one block east to the Museum. Arriving by PATH

The PATH train will bring you to NJ Transit’s Hoboken Terminal. You’ll be at the south end of town. To get from the PATH to the Museum, take either Washington Street bus (#126 or #89) to 13th St, then head east one block. The Museum is located in the old Shipyard Machine Shop at 13th Street & Hudson Street. Or, take a stroll; it only takes about 20 – 30 minutes to walk up the Hoboken waterfront, or historic residential Hudson Street, which is lined with some of Hoboken’s grandest homes, or “The Avenue,” aka Washington Street, lined with shops and restaurants. Arriving by Ferry

NY Waterway offers service to both Hoboken North and Hoboken South from terminals at 39th Street and the World Financial Center. From the Hoboken North stop, walk one block west along 14th Street to Shipyard Lane, and a block south to the Museum. The Hoboken South stop brings you to NJ Transit’s Hoboken Terminal. See PATH directions to get from the terminal to the Museum. Click here to view ferry schedules.

Parking

Several parking lots are located near the Museum. The Littleman Parking-Independence Garage (Shipyard Lane, at 12th St.) offers 3 hours of free parking with Museum validation (normal rates apply after that; call ahead — holidays and special events may affect availability).

On-street parking is extremely limited. Commercial blocks are controlled by multispace meters: Obtain a timed parking slip to display on your dashboard with cash or credit card for up to 2 hours. Meters in effect 9 am – 9 pm Monday – Saturday. Visitor parking is prohibited on the north or west side of any unmetered streets (as indicated by dark green residents-only signage). Residential streets offer up to 4 hours of parking per day, but only on the south and east sides of the block. Many are now subject to mobile payment zones and street sweeping enforcement. Visit the city’s website for more details.
